Virtual Petition NY is an expert system designed to aid petition signature gathering for NYS and NYC primaries.
Designed to document New York Primary petitions by tracking and identifying petition signers. Voter information from the NYC Board of Elections databases or sources like PrimeNY can be used to identify eligable registered voters. Voter registration information can be accessed from multiple workstations simultaneously via web browsers. Software does not have to be installed on workstations.
Internet Information Server (IIS) running on a Windows Server or Workstation provides access through internet browsers from multiple workstations on a local area network or from internet web sites. Application data is stored in a Microsoft Access 2000 database. The MS Access database can easily be queried using all versions of Microsoft Access that read MS Access 2000 databases. Data can be exported to spreadsheets and mail merge applications.
The lookup of voter registration data is accelerated by automation to determine eligability and validity of signatures. Results of lookups can be stored to document petition information identifying volume, page and line number of the signature as well as date and eligability. Counts of valid signatures are maintained and reported in real time as data is entered.
Multiple elections as well as multiple candidates can be tracked. Candidates can have multiple petition volumes. Petition volumes can be shared between candidates of different election profiles. The current limitation allows comparing signatures of a single election type.
Opposing candidate's petition information can also be entered to compare signature information. Candidates sharing the same election profile can have signature data compared for defense or challenge operations. Determine whose signature was recorded first. Find duplicate signatures and signers who signed multiple candidates petitions.
Witness information can also be managed. Witness data is grouped for each candidate's petition being documented. Tracking witness hit rates to determine accuracy and collection rates is also available. Check for witnesses who signed opposing petitions.
Walk lists can be generated for targeting qualified petition signers. List eligable voters by building or street.
Reports for all aspects of the application are available for review or print. Results for data entry and petition signature collection is in real time as data is entered. A challenge/defense report is also available.
